From baby chicks, to egg-laying machines. Our hens are raised here on the ranch, with high quality feed, clean water and a clean living environment.
The girls enjoy their free chaoice, All-Natural feed, and get other free choice snacks and treats, also all-natural! Then they get to free range during the day (weather permitting).
Eggs are collected within 12 hours of being layed. They are then cleaned of any debris, packaged in 100% recycled, reusable and compostable containers, then refrigerated and ready for pick-up!
We are registered with the Arizona Department of Agriculture (AZDA) as a Nest Run Producer! That being said, we hold ourselves to the highest standards. Per AZDA guidelines, for Nest Run Egg Producers, we are required to maintain a clean and healthy environment. We are not allowed to market the eggs as "Fresh" or "Local", and eggs are to be unwashed, unmarked, and ungraded. Registration is required by Arizona State law, so that in the event of a food-bourn illness outbreak, the AZDA and Department of Public Health are able to trace the contaminated eggs back to the producer. We prevent such contaminants, by maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for our chickens. See "Our Flock" page for more information about our Chickens.

Storage:
Unwashed, unpasteurized eggs, do not have to be refrigerated- Unwashed eggs have a protective layer, called bloom, that helps prevent bacteria from penetrating the shell. As long as the eggs are unwashed, they can be stored on your countertop for 2-3 weeks. Once refrigerated, they can not go back on the counter at room temperature. For safety and peace of mind for you and your family, we store our sale eggs in the refrigerator, and maintain at less that 45 degrees Fahrenheit. refrigerated eggs can be good for 2-3 months! According to some sources, store bought eggs can be up to 2 months old already, by the time they hit the shelves!
Note: When you receive the eggs, some may be a little dirty. we use a dry paper towel to softly brush off any excess dirt or soil, but they are still unwashed so that we do not compromise the bloom.
Use:
Anomalies:
Blood Spots and Meat spots: Chickens are imperfect, just as any other creature, and sometimes can have a glitch in production that day. We do not have any roosters, So none of the eggs are fertilized. While both are perfectly safe to eat, the sight/idea of eating this egg can put some people off.
Multiple yolks: On most eggs, you only expect to have one yolk. On occasion, you can have two (or even more rare, 3) yolks in a single egg! These eggs are also edible, and a fun surprise when you get them!
